Visiting interesting parts of my city :o)

Was working hard on a project last night when Anti called me to go out and look for Turkish sweets for Teo - the Romanian of course asking for something last minute and something almost impossible to find! So after walking around my area and finding nothing we were told in the last shop we visited to go to the real Turkish area of Brussels, there they would have a bakery open. I have only been to this are to go to the hospital, which is never a plesent experience - especially last week where we saw the staff treat a patient that fainted in the waiting room like a bag of potatos, almost dragging her on the arms into the ER! But enough about that, the area has lots of shops and restaurants and looks nice during daylight, it is a bid dodgy after dark, and probably not safe with a Greek next to me :p We found the bakery, very nice one with huge variety of cakes, sweets, bread... they had everything - and a very nice terrace :o) Of course we have planned another trip there before I leave Brussels, maybe we can find good kebab there (it is never the same as in Turkey) and for sure we go back to the bakery for coffee and desert :o)
mmmmmmmm already looking forward to it...... but must go back to my projects!

Belgians!

After over 18 months in Belgium the Belgians still manage to surprise me with their behaviour. Sometimes so weird that it is funny, but fortunately I managed to keep my face this morning. I got a visit from a policeman who handed me a parking ticket - it took them only 4 monts to bring it to me - and he says: "you pay 3 days and fax to me or you go to palais de justice (the courthouse), criminal"!!! This I got to hear few times. Nice morning. This is what happens when you can't find a parking place late at night and park on the street corner like everyone else does. It is very difficult to find parking in my area and almost impossible at night so people just park whereever they can - so I just did like the rest, trying my best to adjust to the local environment ;o) I have never before or after seen a note from the police about illegal parking except on my car this night! And now I will be a criminal if I don't pay within 3 days and must go to court with my friend the policeman :p
To be continued... ;o)

Finding unuseful things to do :p

Isn't it always the same... when you have too much to do then it's best to do nothing, or at least something unuseful - like blogging and updating the map with the countries visited :p
My MBA is almost over!!! Tomorrow is the final presentation of my project that we have worked on since beginning of March. Also I have the final presenation for my CSR management class, and that presentation is not done yet! Fortunately only 8 slides needed but it doesn't mean there is nothing to study for it. But in one week and 3 hours (not that I'm counting ;) the whole thing will be finished, I'm sure it's going to feel great :o) After all the hard work and all the stress it is time to breathe and relax a bit, yes only a bit!! I hope I can go to work soon, otherwise I'll just become lazy and dream about a beach somewhere far away :p
There are many things to do before going home in 19 days, still 7 days of school with 3 presentations, 2 exams and a written project, we have our MBA ball, graduation, trip to London with Antigoni, packing and shipping my things, parties... the list is too long but I'm going to enjoy my last days here :o)
Back to work!

Still a lot to see!

As usually, when I have too much to do and deadlines to meet it becomes tempting to do something else... This time creating this map of where I have been in the world. Don't know if it was such a good decision, I just see better how much I still have to see! But soon I will be able to add 3 new countries to the list, now there are only 2 weeks until Easter holidays, mum will be here in 10 days and sis in 11 :o)

Getting close to end of term 3

After next week I´ll have finished 3 out of 5 terms! I don't really want to think about this ending soooooo soon... What will happen next? Where will I end up? Where will the rest of the people end up and when will I see them next? Hmmm too many questions...
I have received most of my grades now and they are ok, the toughest part is over and the rest of the courses are more interesting than those I have finished now. Yesterday we got to know about our project and it sounds very interesting, even though we don't know much yet but the first meeting will be next week :) The company is CSC and of course we will be working for the Belgian office. I'll be working with two guys from my class and think we'll be a good team which is important as we will be working a lot together for the next 3 months.
Next week I'll have exams once again, and in two weeks I'll be in Stockholm :D Of course I'll have to celebrate with my sister the end of the third term so we have a good excuse for partying :p Not that there aren't enought parties here, just had about 10 people for dinner on Saturday and there are more dinners planned soon. Somehow I promised to give cooking classes (should seriously stop drinking with those people!! :p) after end of term 5 but before graduation, it could be fun though as we always have fun together :o)

Strategy...

Yes Strategy is the word I hear most often these days :s How is it possible to survive 7 strategy classes in 7 days???? I must say that after classes the whole Saturday, then Monday and Tuesday I had heard enough about strategy for the week but no, of course it was not over. There was still Wednesday left and tomorrow I have classes from "only" 14-21! Fortunately then there is a break for a week before I finish this terms classes on Saturday next week. I should know a lot about strategy by that time, it will be interesting to see how much I have picked up :p
But enough complaining! Life is still good and I'm having fun :D I think most of us in my class are a bit stressed and tired these days so it sometimes feels more like being in a kindergarten than MBA classroom :p It is good to finally have a reasonable exam schedule, even though my schedule has 3 exams in 27 hours! It will not be as difficult as before since we have oral exams, open book case analysis and so on + a take home exam so at last it feels like we are not in undergraduate programme anymore. Now it is more about learning in the classroom, not sitting at home and read and memorize as much as possible - and I like this new way of learning, finally we are learning in the way that is best for me :o)
Better go back to prepare my paper for tomorrow, only 3 cases to read and 1 paper to write! I'm looking forward to the weekend, will be sleeping in on Saturday and then cooking for I think 11 people. Hopefully the food will be good as there are high expectations! At least we're going to have fun, there has never been a boring party with these crazy people from my class - and after a tough week we deserve to have few beers and relax a bit :o)
